Elf on the Shelf and Unwrapping the Greatest Gift

It’s been a wild couple weeks around here but I couldn’t NOT post about our elf on the shelf this year. I was introduced to the Jesse Tree from some fellow Momma’s and I am so excited! Here are the bones of our elf operation, obviously you can make this as grand or simple as you’d like but here’s the tools we are using this year to keep our elf pointing us to the greatest gift this holiday season- the birth of our savior Jesus:

The book: Unwrapping the Greatest: A Family Celebration of Christmas Unwrap the greatest Gift with your family this Advent season!

Person by person, story by story, retrace the lineage of Jesus. Fall in love with Him all over again as you experience God’s plan of salvation for us―from the Garden of Eden to the manger and beyond. With vivid, full-color illustrations, downloadable ornaments, and moving scenes from the Bible, this book is a gift your whole family can unwrap each day leading up to Christmas.

Each devotion includes the following: Scripture readings to go along with each story. Questions and activities to engage the entire family. Beautiful illustrations to further enhance each reading.

You can find printable coloring pages for each day HERE!

The Elf: just your standard Elf on the Shelf doll, we added a sparkling tutu a few years back! If you don’t have one of these plush elves available, use any toy/doll you want. I’ve thought about using a dinosaur with a Christmas hat on just for fun too! I’m not not sure I’ll have to to make that happen or not this year!

The ornaments: Jesse Tree wood ornaments are a little pricey bought as a set but but I have to say they are worth it in my opinion! They come in a beautiful satin bag and are mad of solid wood. Something that will last through the years of little hands holding them. Remember if you can’t drop $50 on a set of ornaments this year THAT’S OKAY! I’m all about a no stress holiday season. There is downloadable ornament set that comes with the purchase of the book linked above. If you want something a little more personal, utilize Pinterest and make your own set of ornaments.

Remember the goal here is to have fun, make memories and keep the meaning of this crazy month called December focused on our sweet savior- Jesus Christ.

Enjoy your last sleep before the holiday season is in full swing!
